SMA cables come in two basic types, standard and reverse polarity (RP). These 50 ohm cables use screw type connectors much like the F connectors on televsions; in fact SMA connections resemble TV connnections but in a much smaller size.
Standard SMA cables have either a SMA Male or SMA Female connector or both. The male has an inside thread and a pin in the center. The female has an outside thread and a receptacle for the pin in the center. SMA cables have many uses including connecting test equipment and connecting antennas to amateur radios, GPS locators and other devices. SMA cables are available with SMA male-female connectors or either SMA male or female to a variety of ither connectors such as N-type, BNC, TNC, SMB and many more. If you can't locatate the SMA cable you need on our product pages please use the Cable Configurator.
RP SMA cables were mandated by the FCC when wifi equipment came into use. They look like standard SMA cables except the receptacle is in the male connector and the pin is in the female connector. We refer to these as plugs and jacks. RP SMA cables are typically used to remotely locate an antenna on a router or other wifi device or connect to an antenna with a different connector such as a N-type, TNC or UHF, Again if you can't find it on our product pages please check the Cable Configurator.
